Elmhurst is a mix: solid prewar brick on the older streets, and a steady wave of newer construction replacing it. On the older homes a limestone marker restores a detail that was once standard and has usually been lost to a repaint. On the newer brick builds it supplies the one piece of genuine craft the builder left out. About 45 percent of the housing stock predates 1960.
We install one thing and only one thing: an 8 inch by 16 inch marker cut from limestone 3 inches thick, with the numbers deep-carved into the face, set permanently into the brick of the house. The price is $700 to $750 installed in Elmhurst and covers the stone, the carving, the masonry work and the cleanup.

No. The opening is cut cleanly to size and the stone is set with proper masonry technique, the same way lintels and sills have been set in brick walls for a century. The finished install is weather-tight.
One visit of a few hours. The stone is carved ahead of time, so installation day is only the masonry work.
